According to the Met Office, which compiles weather data from around the world, the French coast is about 23C in winter, up to 27C in summer and temperatures sometimes hit 40C in the middle of nowhere.
Does this mean you’re safer sailing along the English Channel in July? No, it’s not, but it does mean that you’re less likely to get swept up in the mistral wind than you would be if you were heading inland. And as we all know, sudden thunderstorms are quite common in the French Alps.
